Verdi Nabucco opera to a libretto by Temistocle Solera. Directed 2013 by Daniele Abbado (with associate Boris Stetka) at the Royal Opera House. Stars Plácido Domingo (Nabucco), Liudmyla Monastyrska (Abigaille), Andrea Carè (Ismaele), Marianna Pizzolato (Fenena), Vitalij Kowaljow (Zaccaria), Robert Lloyd (High Priest), David Butt Philip (Abdallo), and Dušica Bijelić (Anna) . Nicola Luisotti conducts the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and the Royal Opera Chorus. Design by Alison Chitty; lighting by Alessandro Carletti; video designs by Luca Scarzella; movement by Simona Bucci. Directed for TV by Rhodri Huw. Sung in Italian. Mike Ashman, writing in the July 2015 Gramophone at page 88, states that Monastyrska "absolutely blazes with charisma" but has little admiration for Domingo as a baritone. He deems the show "far from stupid" but "rarely exciting" enough to watch repeatedly.
